Alex Tasso is an American-born songwriter and musician, who first got his taste of the music industry through his uncle, former Atlantic Records and MJJ Music president, Jerry Greenberg.
When Alex was attending the No. 5 School in Cedarhurst, NY, he joined the school orchestra as a cello and bass player, taking more strongly to the stand-up bass; he has been an aficionado ever since. Tasso also sang and performed in several stage plays and recorded skits up through college.
In 2007, Alex moved to Los Angeles, and there, he formed Swiftkick, with Jay Middleton, Charlie Comet, Scott Chiclowe, and the late David King. Swiftkick toured the West Coast from 2007-09, which included headlining the world-famous Whisky-a-Go-Go, in West Hollywood, as well as performing shows alongside legends such as Y&T and the L.A. Guns.
It came to a crashing halt when Alex was arrested and convicted of robbery while under the influence. (Tasso is a recovering heroin and meth addict, and his clean date currently stands at February 13, 2016.) His addiction led him to serve a lengthy prison term from 2009-2022. He now makes his foray back into creating music, this time as a solo artist, utilizing AI to merge his lyrics and voice with music
His debut solo album, “Raven in the Rafter,” was released in October 2025. It was followed shortly thereafter by “The Uncanny Valley.” Several singles and EPs followed. He then released “Oath,” his magnum opus to his faith, Asatru (aka ‘Odinism’ or ‘Wotanism’).
So far, 2026 has seen the release of his autobiographical concept album, “Convict,” on February 13, coinciding with the 10-year anniversary of his clean date. This year has also seen the release of several mildly-popular and successful singles, which have been his signature tracks, such as "Eve," "Bombs Over Hollywood," and "A New Scar."
Alex is currently working on a new, currently untitled album.
